As a patient, you have certain rights and obligations. We have summarized the most important ones for you here:
self-determination
After receiving appropriate and understandable information, you decide for yourself whether you want to undergo a particular treatment or procedure. If you refuse a proposed medical measure, this will of course be respected; however, you must accept responsibility for any consequences that may result. Respecting the patient's wishes is central to treatment and care. However, there are limits to the right to self-determination: the patient's or their representative's wishes to undergo a particular treatment only need to be complied with if this treatment is medically indicated.
Information
The doctor will keep you informed about your state of health and the expected course of the healing process in an understandable form. Ask your treatment team about the type and purpose of examinations, treatments or interventions. Ask
questions if, for example, you do not understand technical terms or would like additional information. The doctor will also inform you about risks and side effects; he or she will explain treatment alternatives, if available. This obligation to provide information only applies if immediate action is necessary. However, it will be provided at a later date.
data processing and data protection
information to family and friends
In order to protect your personal rights, the doctor may not give your family and friends any comprehensive information about your health without your consent. However, unless the circumstances indicate that you wish to keep the information confidential, it is assumed that you have given your consent to provide information to people close to you (people named in your living will or next of kin named upon admission). Please let us know explicitly if you do not want this.
If you do not want any information about your stay, admission, discharge or transfer to be disclosed, please also inform reception.
Information to referring and follow-up agencies
We would like to draw your attention to the fact that, unless you declare your wishes to the contrary, we will provide medically necessary information to the referring and follow-up doctors as well as to other specialists who directly provide treatment and care (e.g. home care services, nursing homes).
Further use of your data for research
Information from your medical history can help us to understand more about successes and failures in the prevention, detection and treatment of diseases.
It is possible that your patient file will be scientifically evaluated at a later date.
Your data will always be used further or passed on to third parties in encrypted form and in compliance with all applicable data protection and research regulations. The data will only be used if you give your consent.

right to complain
If you feel that your rights have been violated, you can contact the clinic staff or the quality management department via the feedback form or the reporting portal on the clinic's website.
living will
With a living will, you can record your wishes in writing in the event that you are no longer able to make decisions yourself. For example, whether and which people should be involved in medical decisions, whether life-prolonging measures should be taken or not, and how you feel about autopsies and organ donation. Your wishes in this regard must be respected by the treatment team, unless your instructions violate the law or there are indications that you have since changed your mind. The doctor treating you will ask you about your living will.
Patient duties
This includes in particular that you:
- provide the treating physician with complete information about allergies, previous illnesses, examinations and
treatments,
- adhere to the medical, nursing and therapeutic instructions of the staff,
- follow the instructions in this patient information, especially the rules regarding smoking, lighting candles, using mobile phones and leaving the clinic premises,
- take into account the needs of your fellow patients,
- pay the costs that are not covered by your health insurance yourself.
